Thursday Tips

Since I'm still working on some LOs, I decided to post a couple of tips that I found quite useful when I first started making cards and scrapbooking. I realize many things have changed in the last couple of years but I think you'll like these tips.
  1. I put clear nail polish on the bottoms of my stamps prior to using them. It doesn't elliminate the staining completely but it sure helps.
  2. Small pointed scissors come in quite handy for those little spots
  3. Don't be afraid to try something. If you're unsure use a scrap of paper. You might be surprised on how things turn out.
  4. The corner photo punches that will let you put your photo underneath the corners. I messed up lotssssss of paper, before someone finally told me that the mat needs to be cut 1/2" bigger and it's a perfect fit. Example - photo is 5 x 7, cut the mat 5 1/2 x 7 1/2, do the corners, add pic, perfect.
  5. Perfect white pen to use on dark card stock - Uniball Signo White Pens - hard to find in local stores - I purchased mine on the internet.
  6. Buying paper - card stock or patterened paper - if at all possible buy 2 sheets of each - very hard to match up colors if you need more, especially solids.
I have scads more of tips and will post more on another day. These are some of the ones that I sure could have used when I started off. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Willson Wednesday

Today is dedicated to one of many special friends in my life. Her name is Barb, but I get to call her Barbie. I just found out that only two other people in her life were allowed to call her Barbie and that was her Mom & Sis...So how special is that??? BARBIE and I met under unusual circumstances as we had both lost a loved one and our paths happened to cross in an online grief chat room...That was approximately 10 years ago. We met in Vegas shortly after that and then again a couple years after that. I just happen to pick up the phone in December 2007 and say hey we're going to Vegas in January why don't you and hubby meet us there?? And like wow they did. It was their anniversary and it was our vacation and it was ohhhhhhhh so great. It was hard to say goodbye. We exchange birthday cards, Christmas gifts and whatever else floats are boats, nothing written in stone it's like we just know what to do and when to do it...Cyber Sisters. Sometimes are wave lengths are so on target that it's kinda scary, in a good way of course. I like to say she's my OLDer friend just to hear her tell me shud up. Despite the distance between us we've managed to go through good times and bad time together. Knowing each one is there for the other when needed. That's what it's all about. So BARBIE...here's to me, here's to you, and here's to US...Now I need to spell check this and grammar check this and all that other good stuff, as she's a stickler for that kind of stuff. All kidding aside, luv ya girlfriend, till we meet again.

Spider Man

I had read at one time to be ready with your camera at any time, so during the summer when we got rained out at camp we took my DGS George (3) into see Spider Man, camera in tote. While waiting for show time we went to WalMart, low and behold there were posters every where with spidey himself. If I hadn't had that camera I would have missed these great shots. This LO did have another spider or two in the web but think they crawled off. I was so proud that I remembered to save the show tickets. Believe it or not I cut strips to make the web. Took me forever, but was so proud of myself. In the meantime I found some other spidey things to put in their place I just never have. So remember take that camera as you don't want to miss out on that perfect photo.

Thankful Tuesday

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for stopping by and to say how thankful I am for everything in my life and everything I'm able to do. Today is a follow up eye doctors appointment and I'm not looking forward to drops in the eyes...So before I go, I've been trying to clean out my favorites and get things a little more organized...doing some laundry...purging some paper work...might even attempt to start my taxes...need to clean up my scrappy-mess to make room for the next mess...and the list goes on...Have a wonderful day...

There's a Dixie Chick in the House

Dixie came to live with us in June 2007. She's 2 1/2 years old and weighs about 10#s. I would say she's one spoiled little girl. My DGKs tell me that Dixie is their dog, she just lives with us. For some reason, since she was a puppy I started called her Dixie Chick. Anyone who has lost a pet knows what it's like. After I lost two dogs, I said that's it no more. It was about 10 years before Dixie became part of our "family."

Take Two

I re-did my LO for Kelli's challenge after seeing all the others. I like this one better, but I still feel there's too much blank space, but I ran out of flowers and not really sure what else to use in their place. I did some rub on stitching...first time for that...as you can see the top went well but if you tilt your head a little the middle will look straight...lol...I did stack the letters a little and I put their names and date on the LO. Thanks for looking.

Monday Moaning

Wasn't able to attend my Monday morning crop as the flu bug is still hanging around. Going to attempt to complete a LO and post the end results later on today. Today marks one more day closer to warmer weather. I have an opportunity to learn the basics plus on PSE6 which I'm going to take advantage of. I'm hoping that will help me with not being so structured on my LOs. Have a great day and stay healthy.

I've been tagged!

First time being tagged here, so hope I'm doing this right. If not I'm sure someone will let me know.

Here are the rules:
1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name).
3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers.
4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details).

Easy for me...My middle name is ANN
A - I have been known to be Agressive
N - I try to be Nice to everyone
N - I am a Novice on scrapbooking and card making

I'm tagging NYgirl, Patti Martin anddddddd RibbonJunkie

I'm Loving It

Finally got these posted. I redid these from a previous LO that I wasn't happy with. I think they look much better now. My long time girl friend Jeanette and I were into collecting these toys for years. The paper I used I actually found on Ebay several years ago. It has a 2004 McDonald's trademark on the sheets. They finally came in handy instead of just sitting around collecting dust. Thanks for looking.

I wonder what the truck looks like!!!

Hopefully I get my update in today...Finished 2 LOs yesterday, but camera battery needed charging so needed to do that. Would have posted later on but somehow the flu won out. Feeling fine up until 6:00 PM and then wow. That truck must have been traveling pretty fast. Of course didn't sleep to well, up and down and today seems better. The thought of any thing to eat doesn't interest me. Another bottle of water and back to bed. I hope everyone is feeling healthier than I am and enjoying their day.

Simply Saturday

Going to be a lazy day for us today. Couple of things the DGDs want to do today. Taylor (6) is the crafty girl while Elle (10) would much rather do her own thing. They both want to make a yummy snack with graham crackers, peanut butter, milk and instant pudding. Mix the three together and put between two grahams, freeze, and makes for healthy snack. But alas I don't have the grahams and sure is nippy outside. Maybe they'll forget, hmmmmmmm I doubt it. Therefore the first order of business is the store. Will post some pictures later on. Have a great Saturday.

Think Spring

Still pretty chilly here in Ohio. Plenty of frost on the windows. Seems like if it's under 70 I'm cold, so I'm trying to hurry up that warmer weather by thinking spring. In the process I just happened to find this picture and wanted to share with everyone...Have a great day and stay warm.

Christmas in January

Since we didn't have snow here in Ohio for Christmas and we had a dusting of it today, I thought I'd share two of the Christmas Cards my 11 year old DGD Kayla made for the holidays. I helped with the cutting of the mats for Rudolph, but she did all the rest. She did the snowflake card all by herself. I'm quite proud of the end result.

Sisters - 1988

Just a quick LO to meet a challenage on http://www.allmomentsremembered.com. Don't think I've moved this fast in ages...But here it is...My youngest DD Debby on the left and my oldest DD Traci on the right...

Quality Time

I was enlisted to babysit for the DGKs while Mom and Dad went away for a couple of days...So while sisters were in school George (3) and I made cards...He was quite content in making little pieces of paper out of strips of scrap...If you look real close we have one boo boo at the time of this picture...We decided to change our cutting machine to something a little safer...He sat there for about 2 hours cutting up paper while I made cards...This is what it's all about...I wouldn't trade that time for anything...

A Message from June

A warm welcome to you for taking the time to stop in, pull up a chair, and enjoy a cup of coffee. Since I've just started this, there probably isn't a lot for you to visit right now. Hopefully within the next couple of days, I'll have more things for you to look at and see. In the meantime, please take the time to drop in and visit Stacey and her team at www.allmomentsremembered, where I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome. While you're there make sure you stop in at the store. If you're like me, I'm sure there's always a little something you could use. Thanks and hope to see you again soon.
