Some New Stuff...

A couple of LOs that I started at my Saturday Crop and finally put the finishing touches on them at home...I have like 3 more to do...The crop is 7 hours long and I try to pack up kits to get me through...Most of the time I add the journaling or the title once I get home...This saves me from having to take everything but the kitchen sink...So far it's been working out well...Haven't posted any of my LOs for a long time, and decided I need to start posting more and more...I did get my inspiration from Becky Fleck Page Maps 2...Thanks again Becky...I just wish my camera would take better photos...They seem to look so much better IRL...Thanks for looking and enjoy your evening...

Then head on over to the http://gelatinstamps.blogspot.com/ to see all the fantastic ideas on how to use their stamps...Gel-a-tins has been taken over by Bonnie and it's a whole new start for the stamps...I have the opportunity of being a "Guest" Designer for her for the month of March...I created 3 cards and one of them is currently being featured on her blog...The stamps come in the cutest tin ever and I found that to be a fantastic way to store them...I plan on stamping the images of each stamp on a card and then adhering that card to the top of the tin...This way I can just look at the tin to see what's inside...I decided to use white pigment ink on my card and I just loved how it turned out...Another thing I just loved was the fact that I have a bad habit of not cleaning up my stamps and blocks immediately after usage...This time was no different...When I finally did take them down to be washed, I just used warm water, an old toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies on the stamps, and let dry on a paper towel...they adhered back on their backing beautifully and when I went to use the stamps for another card it stuck right back to the block like it had never been used...To be honest, that doesn't happen with a lot of the clear stamps I've purchased...Here's a photo of my card and if you want to check out all the other design team members creations, just head on over to the blog...Thanks for stopping in and hope to see you again...Have a wonderful day...

Scrapbook Inspiration

Not sure about all the scrappers our there, but my inspiration doesn't come easy...Unfortunately I have a hard time creating without something visual in front of me...I have an envious jealousy for those that can just sit down and no matter what it just all flows...My stuff flows alright, downhill...So I have had to resort to other means of getting the creativity flowing...I have purchased both Page Map Books by Becky Fleck and they are two of the best purchases I have ever made...A friend of mine and I have challenged ourselves with her Page Map 2 book by completing 2 layouts each week until how ever long that takes us...

I spend a lot of time at http://www.scrapbook.com/ going through their gallery...since I've become more of a paper snob, I tend to search for the paper line that I happen to have and get inspiration from that...

So a huggggggggggge thank you to Becky Fleck and to the scrappers at http://www.scrapbook.com/ for your inspiration...

Digi Quick Pages

I am in love with Digi Quick Pages...If you are a scrapper ad you have one photo that is just awesome and nothing to go with it in your stash, the quick page is the way to go...Don't get me wrong, I love playing with paper, but by the time I would go out and get a stash for one photo, would definitely cost more than the cost of having an 8 x 8 digi quick page printed out...Yes you could use what you purchase for another paper layout, but then again, it could just sit there collecting dust, never to be used again...Of course, it's up to every one's individual preference...My preference is a quick page...Plus there are so many awesome FREE pages out there...don't forget to give credit to the person that created the page...follow a blog hop...you never know what you'll find...If you prefer to take it a step farther, than you can make your own digi page...I'm still learning and as with most things, practice, practice, practice is a must...Also save, save, save your work...even the most proficient people in the digi world will tell you, don't forget to save your work...I would also recommend an external hard drive if you are in to any digi stuff...backing up your files is another thing...If a couple of days goes past and I haven't worked on a quick page I tend to forget some of the easy steps...The other day was no exception...I payed around for quite sometime before I decided to search for some help...I found one of the best and easiest to follow quick page tutorials and I would like to share that with you...Here it is in all it's glory and I am sure you will agree it's easey peasey to follow...Here's the quick page I created...Thanks for looking, have a wonderful day, stay safe, and enjoy...

Digi Quick Page

I've been doing a bit a dabbling in Digi Quick Pages...Still learning the ropes...Plus there's many freebies out there for you to try before you jump into buying digi kits etc...What I do like about it is that it's free, you can fix a mistake quickly, you can color coordinate much better, no sticky mess and several other reasons...I do like the end result and I have had some of the quick pages printed out in 8 x 8...Once printed I found that although I liked the end result, I missed the feeling of working with the paper, flowers, punches and all those other fun things...Digi pages printed out, also are just flat...you see the depth...but not like doing a paper page...Of course people like or dislike things for different reasons...this is just my personal opinion...I also like the fact that I seem to do better using multiple photos when I do a digi quick page...but then again, everyone has their own preferences for their own reasons...

Wanted to wish everyone a happy Monday morning...I'm going to be starting off the New Year with eating healthy...besides I need to loose a few pounds...also going to be dusting off the treadmill and my goal is going to start at 15 minutes of walking...doesn't sound like a lot, but it's better than nothing...Personally I'd rather walk outside because at least I feel like I'm going someplace, but the weather hasn't been too accommodating for doing that...I'll start some laundry and then walk to the beat of the washer...

Completed my first layout of 2011 today...Opened up a brand new album...Need to put some dates on the other albums too...I don't scrap in any order so I at least want people to see the difference in the pages as the years have gone by....

Want to attempt to change my blog to look a little more appealing...I like the look of other blogs with 3 columns but I just can't seem to understand how to do that...so maybe I'll be able to find something basic that will work...I'm sure changes have been and many updates on blogger that I could use...

Also want to start including more tutorials that I have saved in my favorites...for no other reason than to share and maybe keep myself on a roll with trying new and different things too...

Although I have not kept up with my blog on a daily basis, I think I've done better than last year...Seems like there's not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do...One thing I have noticed is several people that return on a regular basis...What I'd like to know is what is everyone looking for??? Scrapping, digi, photography, PSE, card or whatever info??? I'm jack of all trades, but master of none...I have scads of tutorials on different things that I've either done or want to do...I'm a scrapper at www.scrapdailly.com. I frequent there on a daily basis...I do lurk at other, much larger, boards looking for tips, tricks, techniques, how to and who knows what else...So if you could leave me a comment or two and give me an idea of what everyone is interested in, it would certainly help me...I'm sure I will post again before the New Year, but just in case, wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy/Safe New Year...

PSE6 Tutorial

I've been trying to learn more about PSE6 and making things easier when it comes to multiple pictures on a LO...I found a GREAT FREE tutorial along with a layered template by Ali Edwards...I found the best thing for me was to use the same photos over and over to practice with...Of course I've saved the originals just in case...One thing I can say is practice, practice, practice...I tend to run the tutorial in the background and switch back and forth...A little time consuming, but that's what works best for me at this point...Tomorrow, I'm going to do the tutorial once again, this time I'm going to try not looking and just listening as I create...Another thing you might try is just watching the tutorial and then creating...This might work better especially if you are more familiar with PSE6 than I am...One of the things I love is to share what I've found...Here's the link...Enjoy...

One of those most exciting things for me is to submit my LOs to various places in the hopes of being published...I pride myself in being able to hit the submit button...I've been published a total of 3 times now...Once in CK for a tip to apply clear nail polish to your wood stamps prior to using as it helps keep the wood cleaner from the ink after stamping...Of course, I think wood stamps are far and few in between now, with all the clear stamps out there...The second time I had a LO featured in http://www.scrapbooking.com/ of my dad from when he was in the Navy...That was probably a couple of years ago...Well lo and behold I was selected once again by http://www.scrapbooking.com/ to be featured in their July online issue...of course I'm ecstatic...My LO is titled Captivating...For those of you that have yet to enter any of your LOs, cards, or other crafting projects, please don't hesitate to do so...it's a good feeling to know that no matter what, you tried...and if you are picked it's a wonderful feeling...Thanks for reading my blog, have a wonderful day and good luck to all...

Long Time Since I've Blogged...

One of the things I wanted to do at the beginning of 2010 was to keep up with my blog or a daily basis...Of course, I've failed to do this...

Besides being busy with my everyday life, I had full knee replacement surgery in February...Something I thought I would bounce back from a lot sooner that I did...I'm currently in physical therapy, which is definitely helping...Although they keep telling me that I'm doing great, I personally feel that I should be more up to speed...Having seen and talked with other people that had surgery prior to me, even as far back as Thanksgiving 2009, I should take note of what I've been told by the therapist...The cane has gone to the way side and I'm able to go up and down steps normally, but with great caution...Sleeping has become easier...Most difficulty is trying to kneel down on both knees...I can accomplish bending down on one knee and getting back up again, but it's definitely a slow process...The word patience is a word that I need to practice as I try and get back to my normal life style...

Along with knee surgery, I've also had some struggles with dental work...Hopefully this too is on the mend...

I've done some scrapping and card making, but not as much as I'd like too...Attending some small crops has worked as I'm able to get up and move about more frequently...

What I'd like to start doing on my blog is posting some links to some of the scrappy things I've found, while surfing the Internet...

It's been a long day and time to relax...Have a wonderful evening and thanks for stopping in...

Sunday Update...

I told myself that with a new year I was going to do better in keeping up with my blog...I already managed to skip a day...Guess I just live one of those lives that doesn't have excitement going on it...

Manged to watch some tutorials today regarding alcohol inks...I don't know about you, but did you ever notice that our hands must be the only hands that get dirty while scrapping or stamping...I always manage to have something stuck to me or on me...I even manage to have a perfect stamped image someplace other than where it's supposed to be...You ever look at some of those amazing scrap rooms out there and most of them are white...bad color for me...I'd be afraid of getting it dirty...My room is very seldom spic n span cleaned...it's somewhat organized, but when I scrap/stamp, I sure make a mess...Guess I'm just not an all around neat person...lol...Despite all this, I enjoy what I'm doing and don't plan on quiting anytime soon...I'm still a paper scrapper...I've tried some digi, but for the time being I like the feel of everything along w/the mess...Digi just seems so perfect...and I'm definitely not perfect...But maybe, one of these days, when I get a little more understanding of PSE6 under my belt...

Playing Catch Up...

Once again, it's been ages since I've posted anything...Things have just been super busy around here for me...A little bit of this and a little bit of that has kept me quiet busy...I've always wanted a deck in the back of the house for some lawn furniture in the summer...It's much easier to leave the furniture there then taking it off the grass for the lawn people...So that special man in my life decided to do that for me and he did a fantastic job...It started off small and got bigger and bigger...and I luv it...I had also wanted some shelves in a closet...I felt that as we've gotten older, it's a little easier to have those staple items in area that's easier to reach than running up and down the stairs...Especially since I always forget something on the first trip...lol...So he also put some shelves in for me and they to look great...He's definitely been on a roll...

As for me, I've just been staying out of his way...lol...Actually I've been making cards out of scraps...Plus while looking for something that I knew I had, I found all kinds of fun stuff to use on Christmas Cards...Some I like better than others and I think my problem is that I'm afraid to add stuff to my cards or my layouts...Therefore I think I need to try to load it down w/stuff and then if I don't like it, I can always take it off...Of course that's before I glue it all down...

Since I'm basically caught up on things, except for cleaning, I'll be uploading some of creations in the next couple of days...

I've also signed up for another FREE Jessica Sprague...I'm looking forward to that too...Looks like I need more than 24 hours in the day, or just go without sleep...

The last couple of weeks have been hectic to say the least...With everyday things going on, thinking of more stuff for my to do list, and then unexpected things, I've had little time to scrap or do much of anything else...My dad has been in and out of the hospital for the last month or so and hopefully things will be moving in a positive direction now...He's had problems with his blood pressure for as long as I can remember...But the continued high blood pressure and then low blood pressure readings have given difficulty over the last month...He's now at the Cleveland Clinic under careful watch and they think they have things where they need to be regarding his medication...Sometime today he will go to the step down unit and be monitored there for a coupe of days before being sent home...He's 86 and if you saw him on the street you would never know it...Being idle is not his thing, so he's hoping to get cut loose soon so he can go back to his way of living with some moderation to that....The end result of the problem seems to be that his body was laking fluids, therefore creating pain, discomfort, and a few other issues...According to his doctor they believe they finally have the tweaking down to a science regarding his medication and if all goes well in the next couple of days, he will be able to come home...

I just finished this LO and wanted to post it and today seemed like the perfect day. I'd like to thank Nancy P over at http://www.scrapadilly.com/ for giving me the ok to lift her LO...I new I had the perfect picture and once she posted hers, I knew I also had the perfect title...I luv to scrap and make cards, but I'm really out of sorts in the creativity department...I do so much better with a page map or lift...So once again, thanks Nancy P...

It's about time that I start posting again...I've been having a real good time, just doing my own thing and have become lax in other things...so without further ado, here are a couple of layouts that I've completed for the crop over at Scrapadilly.com

The crop is still going on and the challenges are awesome...I for one really like the color challenge and the sketch challenge...Some people are lucky to have imaginations and come up with some great stuff...Not me, I need a little extra help...If I must say so myself, I continue to go out of my box just a little more and more each time...At least I'm trying some different things and if I don't like them, I can at least say I've tried...I'm sure I'm way behind on things compared to others...As an example, I have yet to finish my acrylic album...they're probably obsolete by now...but at least I have the paper cut...might just be a small project to finish while visiting the camper...

I really don't have an excuse for not updating in such a long time...Not sure if anyone really reads this or checks out any of the links, but I've decided that this is outlet for me...I'm always willing to share a new idea or technique...And I definitely can just babble on and on...

Since my last posting, I've been busy trying some different things in the area of scrapping...I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone...I'm working on a challenge right now and felt the need to walk away...The layout itself needs more, but I'm just not sure what...I also made some cards today for a fun challenge at www.scrapadilly.com They have monthly challenges and a great group of ladies that are always full of encouragement...

As a matter of fact, I'm going to be meeting up with a couple of those ladies in the near future...I can hardly wait...We've talked on the phone many times and to be able to meet them IRL is going to wonderful...Best part is, that right now I'm on a scrappy spending freeze...The freeze will end when we meet and then look out...It's kind of nice as I'm using up things that I forgot I had...I'm also finding things that I purchased and I can't figure out what I liked about it...So I have a box of goodies that I'm going to pass on to my scrappy friends...

I've made several LOs in the past month and I'll be posting some of those creations tomorrow...I think I'm going to see if I can finish up my challenge LO...

Been Ages...

It's definitely been ages since I've posted...not because I didn't want to, but it's been busy around my place...Seems like I have less time since I retired than I had when I was working...or maybe because I'm doing more fun things than I did before...along with just moving at a slower pace...realizing that there's no deadline for most things...and the things there are, I just fit into my schedule accordingly...the rest of the stuff I find myself just taking my good old time and enjoying what I'm doing...I finally was able to make it to a pre school program for my grandson...he looked so cute...can't believe that he'll be in school come next August...He's also a great age for Santa's visit...looking forward to that too...I missed alot of things with the other grand kids but I also got to see alot...It's fun watching them grow and try different things...I took them all to the dollar store this past weekend and let them shop...The each had 7 people to buy for...They did good picking out stuff...and not once did they try to pick something up for themselves...Once we were done, we brought all our stuff home and they got everything wrapped and under the tree...Kayla, Taylor, and George did a fantastic job on the tree in the basement...Syd was being kinda lazy and Elle wasn't feeling quite up to par...Kayla helped me finish the Christmas cards and the others did some coloring in of some stamped images...So I'm a few steps ahead of the game for next year...Not too much in the plans for the next couple of days so I'm hoping to get in some scrapping...

I hope you will all join me in wishing "Elaine" a Happy Birthday today...I met Elaine several years ago on a Grief Recovery web site...It's amazing how that meeting ha helped us both in our grieving process...She has become one of my "bestest friends" through the years and I hope she knows that...She has a heart of gold and has always been there no matter what...Of course she's easy to trick and I can rile her up in a flash...And sometimes I end up telling her just how it is, and that sometimes I'm not very nice in how I tell her things, but I hope she knows that if I didn't care about her as a person, I wouldn't say anything...There's so much more I could tell you about her, but she's private person who doesn't like a lot of hoop da la about her, so with that said, the last thing I will say "is enjoy your special day, my special friend and thanks for always being there."

September 29, 1994 started off normal...I fought with the alarm clock in getting up for work...You were still sleeping, but I knew you had a meeting that you were planning on going to...Just before I left for work, I went in and woke you up...You told me I looked nice and being my sarcastic self I said I always look nice and for you to have fun at your muckity muck meeting...I don't even remember kissing you goodbye...People get in a rut, taking things for granted and I took it for granted that you'd be here when I got home from work...

You had the gift of gab...people just loved you...you definitely were a true politician...you could tell people just about anything and they never gave it a second thought...I can't remember anyone every being made at you...Our mutual friends Tia & Nancy thought the world of you...people in the community actually thought you were having an affair with both of them...which I thought was hysterical...You were such a family man...You were so proud of the girls...and tickled pick to be a grandfather...

You were supposed to drive to the meeting, but as I later learned you were able to hitch a ride with Frank & Lou...You normally called me two or three times a day at work, just to see what I was doing or to let me know what your plans were...You were on disability since your first heart attack back in '81...We talked about me quitting work in a couple of years...The girls were both out on their own and it was now our turn...to do those things that we'd always talked about or to do whatever we pleased...we were both looking forward to those days...

The call came in at work around 4:30 PM...It was Frank calling...he just said "hi this is Frank is Grace there??? Which of course I thought so strange since I knew he would have been with you that morning and afternoon, but just as quick as the thought came I dismissed it...Grace came into my office and said that was Frank W...he said that John's had a heart attack and that he's being taking to the hospital by a squad and that he & Lou would pick me up...My heart sank...it had been several months since we'd had a run to the hospital...things were feeling all most normal again...you had just been to your doctor yesterday...and you reported that he'd see you next month...I grabbed my purse and went outside to wait, for what seemed like hours...my knees and legs were like rubber...I kept waiting to here the wail of the sirens, but I heard nothing...Carolyn came running out of the building to give me a hug...I was ready to take off running to the hospital, but at the point Frank & Lou pulled into the parking lot...I got into the car and said some stupid things to Lou, like who are you, and then I asked Frank how bad it was and he said bad...For some reason, I think I knew at that time that you were gone, but I wasn't going to fully admit that to myself...We got to the hospital and the ambulance wasn't there yet...which I found strange...As we walked in they tried to usher us into a room, that I already knew was not the room I wanted to go into...I refused...saying that I know what it means when they put people in that room...they told me that we needed to stay in there that the squad was bringing you in and were still working on you...still I heard no sirens...within minutes they ushered us to another room and someone came in and said you were gone...I was numb...Poor Frank & Lou...I don't think they knew what to say...I called Karen and told her she needed to get a hold of your brother to come to the hospital...she asked me if everything was ok...knowing how she cherished you and that she was alone, was to tell her that it wasn't good...The must have also contacted your twin, as within minutes both of your brothers were there...I was told that I could see you as soon as they got things cleaned up...they explained to me what I should expect...They still had you intubated...they asked me if I would like to donate your organs, I told them I would have to talk with the girls first, and they told me time was of the essence, but I was unable to get a hold of the girls...in the meantime, they realized you were diabetic and unfortunately they wouldn't be able to utilized your organs...

The time came...I was allowed to see you...Frank & Lou went with me...It looked like your were sleeping...you were warm to my touch...your shirt was ripped open...the buttons were gone...I could still see where they had put the leads on your chest...there was a funny odor in the room...I ws told it was the gel they used on your chest...you looked so at peace...

We were told that we stay as long as we wanted, but I needed to get home, so I could get a hold of the girls...you were so well known within the community, I didn't need them to hear this on the streets...I asked everyone to please not say anything to anyone until I talked with the girls...

I got back home...the house was empty...your car was there...but the house was empty...I still expected to see you when I walked in the door...I was now feeling like this was all a dream...and that I'd wake up any moment...

I continued to try and get a hold of the girls...I finally was able to reach Deb...fortunately she was at Ron's and he brought her to the house...I can still hear the silence on the end of the phone line after I told her...I continue to try Tra...finally I called her mother-n-law...she said you were sleeping, I asked her to please wake you that it was important and I guess she could tell by my voice that something was wrong...she wanted to make sure she was there in case you needed her once I spoke with you...All I can remember you screaming into the phone, was "Oh no Mom..."

It was now time to contact my mother and father...they were on vacation in Florida...you had just taken them to the airport a couple of days ago...My mother was alone when I called, my dad was out fishing...I didn't want to tell her without dad being there, but I felt I had no choice...The next person to call was my sister...After that, it didn't make any difference...you were gone...the girls were by my side...and my family was notified...The girls took over making phone calls to various people...the phone was ringing off the hook...people were coming to the house....once again...it just felt like a dream...a dream that would be over when I woke up in the morning...Tra & Dan stayed with me for the next few days...and Ron stayed with Deb....my parents were able to get a flight back home...The next 7 days were filled with making arrangements, people, phone calls, flowers, food being dropped off for the family...

The day you were buried was a beautiful day...The sun was shining...it was like you were looking down and saying that you were ok...

It was now time to attempt to move forward without you...I sent the girls home...telling them they had their lives to live and they didn't need to spend it taking care of me, that I would be fine...Reluctantly they left...the house was now empty...the phone had stopped ringing...the people had stopped coming...the mail was back to being occupant...there was a void...

I could go on forever telling you about the last 14 years, but I'm sure you've been watching over us since that day...Our daughters have grown into beautiful women...their husbands are the love of their lives...we have a total of 7 grandchildren...6 girls and 1 little guy...Jessica remembers you...the others know what we tell them about you...you would be proud...of all of them...

I do have someone special in my life...he lost his wife a couple of years after I lost you...He's good to the girls and he just adores the kids...you haven't lost your place in my heart...I just made room to love again...

Fourteen years ago today you became an angel...I think about you everyday and I will miss and love you forever...

Remembering - Dedicated to my late husband, John

Little did we know that fourteen years ago today would be the last evening we would be spending with you...Both of our girls were out on their own...Tra was married and Deb was teaching 3rd grade...In fact she had open house that night at school, that we were planning on going to...Tra stopped over spur of the moment for super, stating that she didn't feel like waiting around the college between classes...We had a nice dinner, Tra left for school and you and I walked up to the school for the open house...You wanted to drive, saying rain was in the forecast, I said it's not going to rain, lets walk...so walk we did...Deb's open house went well...you were being you chatting with everyone in sight...you were especially looking for Tia, a family friend, to say hello...we all joked around that she was girlfriend...no matter how hard you looked, you never did see her...to this day, she always says how she wished she had seen you that one last time...We said goodbye to Deb and headed for home...Of course, you were right, and it rained...we walked hand in hand, laughing about the rain saying how good it felt on such a warm evening...By the time we got home, my hair was matted to my head and our clothes were pretty wet...You offered to wash my hair, something that I really enjoyed...Of course who could pass up that offer...It was late, time for bed for me...you always stayed up longer to watch TV...Little did I know what tomorrow had in store for the family...I can remember like it was yesterday...

Having worked at a senior center for several years, I had the opportunity to participate in many of their activities. A forth at the pinochle table, a dance partner, a good listener, someone that helped fill out all those confusing papers when family members weren’t available and the list goes on. To hear them talk about senior citizens in general was a riot. They themselves were always complaining or laughing about what seniors did or didn’t do from not knowing how to drive or to parking their shopping cart in the middle of a grocery isle and the list goes on. With Halloween fast approaching and their annual party, I thought what better costume I could come up with than that of a senior citizen. I must have done a bang up job as I won for the best costume and brought tears of laughter to the entire party. I had my grandfather’s cane, my husband’s slippers, my grandmother’s pocket book and dress, clothes pins on my clothes, safety pin hooked to my hanky on my lopsided buttoned sweater, and who could forget the babushka. As you can see by the picture I even have seniors helping me get around. This is just one of my fondest memories.

cut into some Paper Pizazz paper...I've had these pictures, as you can see by the date, since 1997, and it's about time I scrapped them...I decided on the black BG paper as it went with their dresses, the red/pinkish color I picked from one of their dresses, the ribbon is from my mother's stash and kinda fell into the background with the one picture, and the red/pinkish kinda fell into the background of the other picture...I happened to have the flower and I then used the greeting on the pictures to put in the center of the flower...I used a piece of the BG paper and cut the tags using my Cricut...I was going to use brads on the hole, but decided on the ribbon instead...so here's the end result...Thanks for looking and have a great Thursday...

Beginning to wonder...

if I'll ever be able to do a LO or a card that will totally blow me away...I see all these fantastic, awesome, gorgeous things being done by other people and I still wonder if this if I will ever be able to duplicate those kinds of things...I'm not being critical about my way of scrapping or making cards and I don't want someone to say my stuff is awesome or gorgeous just to pacify me, but I'm wondering if I'll ever have that style...It seems that if I don't scrap lift that I just kinda freeze...unsure of what to do...I know I do this for myself and for my family to preserve the memories and I'll never be famous...but I realllllly want to be better at this...and I somehow don't know how...I've been published twice...in an online scrap magazine...and people have seen it and my name is there and I feel like wow...great...I'm excited...never thought that would happen...I am having something published in another magazine...very small, but it is exciting...not sure if I'm afraid to put alot of stuff on my LOs or if I just don't know how...but I lack something...Maybe I should just sit down...get some pictures and some scrappy stuff and just load it up and then go from there...put on and take off and see what I can come up with...or try layering like everyone seems to be doing...maybe I'm just afraid to take a chance...so maybe I should just challenge myself...or maybe my stuff is awesome and gorgeous an I just don't see it the way others see it...kind of hard to explain...this probably makes no sense to anyone but to me, and that's ok, as long as I understand...or maybe, just maybe, there are others out there that feel this but don't know how to put it into words or maybe are afraid to...who knows...so that's my goal...challenge myself...the sky is the limit...it's only supplies...and heaven knows I have scads of it...would never be able to use it all no matter what...so now I feel better...I'm just going to go for the gusto and see what happens...if nothing else, I'll have one big, awesome, gorgeous, fantastic mess...Have a wonderful day...

A Scraplift LO

Just had to do this LO...I saw the original in a magazine, and sorry to say I can't find it to give credit where credit is due...It took me about 3 days to complete...I had everything I needed, but I just kept moving things around before glueing it down...and how much more moving around could I do...Then I made a mistake and had to think of something...so all in all this is the end result...

Hopefully with camping season coming to a close, I'll be doing more LOs and cards to post on my blog...

Long Time Since I've Blogged

It's been ages since I've blogged...Things were quite hectic...When I retired a year ago, I knew what I wanted to do with my time, at least for the first year...I wanted to do exactly as I pleased, when I pleased, and definitely spend a summer with my grandchildren...And believe me, I've done just that...I think they were with me more than they were home and although it was hectic and crazy at times, I certainly enjoyed myself...They're all doing so great with their scrappin...As a matter of fact they can blend better than I can with the Prizma Pencils & the Odorless Mineral Spirits...They colored in several stamped flower images and a friend of mine bought them all...The girls were so excited...They didn't make a killing but to them, it was a million bucks...

I've been busy scrapping myself...trying to get away from my structured look...Great place to do that is over at http://www.allmomentsremembered.com/, you can't beat the friends you make and the challenges are awesome...While I don't always do all the challenges the ones that I do, certainly help me go out of my comfort zone...They usually have an online crop around the first of the month too...While you're at, take time to stop in the store and see all what Stacey has to offer...I believe she'll be coming out with the September Kits...You won't want to miss out on that, and they definitely go fast...

Another thing I need to catch up on is my digi scrapping...I've got scads of tutorials to go through...It's all most like there's no time in the day or night to do it all, but I'm sure trying...

I have a friend that I met at Cord Camera coming over tomorrow for a "scrappy" good time...She'll be here at 10:00 AM and I'm sure we'll be at it all morning, afternoon, and who knows maybe into the evening...told her she's welcome to stay for as long as she wants and we'll just veg out and scrap...

since I've posted a new LO...Here's a LO of Dixie...she's 3 years old and camera shy, so I was lucky to get this shot...actually she's afraid of her own shadow...we acquired her through my daughter and she's been with us for 1 year now...I think she's made herself quite comfortable and is a joy to have around...tomorrow she going in to be groomed...she'll look like a brand new dog then...it's actually kinda funny...I really don't like when they cut her too short, but she's way too long now, as she's getting quite matted up...I like the wispy look around her face...I tell her that she has that wild look...Have a great day and thanks for stopping by...

50 ways to use fibers

1. Map out your vacation route with fibre threaded through eyelets.
2. Use as laces on paper pieced-shoes.
3. Make a frame around a matted photo or journal box.
4. Tie through the hole of a tag.
5. Use in a sports scene as a basketball hoop, soccer net or fishing
pole.
6. Create grass or trees.
7. Spell out a title using fibres to stitch out the letters.
8. Wrap around a border, nugget, tag or corner accent several times.
9. Make hair or other features on paper dolls.
10. Use as a string for balloon diecuts or eyelets.
11. Tie lassos for western pages.
12. Create seaweed on an ocean or vacation page.
13. Attach a tail to a kite.
14. Build a mountain/water outline.

Chalking Techniques

1) Chalking Torn Edges – gives dimension to any layout
2) Lettering Templates
3) Freehand Drawing
4) Customized Background Papers
5) Borders
6) Template Shapes
7) Highlighting Paper Piecings and Die Cuts
8) Stained Glass effect: chalk on backside of vellum in dry embossed image
9) Chalk in stamped images
10) Faux Suede: apply same color chalk onto colored cardstock .
11) Versamark stamp off some chalk, rub more chalk over wet ink.
12) Crumple vellum and chalk over creases
13) Fingerpainting: Layer chalk in multiple colors. Spritz with water and fingerpaint! Lay flat to dry.
14) Tie Dye: Layer multiple colors of chalk on THICK cardstock. Run under water and crumple. Lay flat to dry.
15) Reverse chalking: Chalk over punches or die cuts, leaving a negative image.
16) Reverse chalking. Chalk an area, use a white rubber eraser to remove some chalk to make a pattern or highlight an item.
17) Chalk Dragging: Drag chalk square over textured cardstock.
18) Letter lifting: use letter stickers on a page, chalk over them, then carefully lift off, leaving the negative space.
19) Scrape chalk onto a layer of water in a shallow pan. Dip a white tag into water, chalk will stick to tag in swirls. Lay flat to dry.
20) Use a clean q-tip or cotton ball as a blender on any chalked piece.
21) Chalk over dry embossed image for dimension.
22) Highlight words in journaling with chalk.
23) Faux Photo Tinting--print b/w photo onto white cardstock or linen-textured white Bazzill and use chalk to tint the photo.
24) Tone down vivid areas in patterned paper--use grey/brown/dark green tints to tone down a bright floral or geometric.
25) Highlight watermarks--stamp an image with Versamark and drag chalk over to tint/highlight.
26) Chalk your design with a brass stencil. Do not dry emboss. Instead...
1. Remove the stencil and clean the chalk off. Be sure stencil is dry.
2. Carefully line the stencil back up and tape the stencil down on all 4 sides, starting at the top.
3. Working quickly, apply translucent embossing paste evenly over the stencil, filling all the holes completely.
4. Scrape the excess paste off.
5. Carefully remove the tape on sides and bottom, then carefully lift the stencil using the top strip of tape for a hinge.
6. If desired sprinkle fine glitter over the design and tap excess glitter off.
7. Allow design to dry.
You can also use the white embossing paste. Tape the stencil down as directed above. Follow the rest of the steps. When the design is dry, you can color it with chalks, as well as colored pencils, watercolors, inks, etc.

Warmer Weather Finally....

here in Ohio...Supposed to be super nice for the next couple of days, so I'm hoping to get some more yard work completed...With all the rain and cold weather we had it put me behind in planting...I actually waited till after Mother's Day and we still ended up with a frost so I did loose a couple of plants, but I had plenty more to take their place...I've noticed that as the years are going by and with camping it's harder and harder to keep up with weeding out the flower beds...There's so many things I enjoy doing in the summer that there's not enough summer to do them all...It seems something has got to given, but what...Therefore I was thinking of eliminating one of the flower beds, but then I can't decide which one for various reasons...
I have several rooms in the house that need painting so I'm also having that taken care of...The one ceiling in the bedroom needed quite a bit of work so that's been started...The painter will be back sometime next week to complete that and and then move onto to the bedroom side walls...I'm sure he'll be here quite a bit throughout the summer until it's completed...
My DGKs have had various sport activities ending, so there was basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and softball...My Nikon took some awesome pictures...I have yet to go through a pick out the ones that I want to scrap...
Haven't been to crops too much as with the high price of gas, I've been sticking close to home...but I've managed to make some cards during that time...something that's needed to be done for quite some time...
My grandson and I will be taking a trip to Florida shortly where we'll meet up with my dad and sister and eventually my youngest daughter will join us for a couple of days...looking forward to the R&R and having that quality time with my grandson...
Between camping and the Florida vacation I'll miss being on line with the great gals from AMR...and no matter what you really don't catch up with what you've missed...you can try, but it just doesn't work, at least not for me...
Once again this month I got a great package from my scrap pal, Sabrina...She finds the neatest things...and all though we've never met IRL, it's like we just click on pick out stuff for each other...She's got a wonderful family and I really enjoy reading her blog...she has such a wonderful way with words...
Think I'm going to try and make a few more cards and will be posted a few of the ones that I've already made...Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week coming up...

It's Been Ages...

Planning posting some tutorials tomorrow after doing some yard work...

All cards were made using left over scraps..

I liked both of these cards, but I thought the thank you one needed something else, so I added a button flower on it...

There was a challenge to use ugly paper either in a card or a layout at AMR...this was my ugle paper and I made the card beneath it...

since I've updated...Things have been hectic...weather has been lousy...Finally made it out to the camper for a nice long weekend plus...Weather wasn't the greatest on Monday, but Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were sunny with wind...The campfire was great and we even had all the makings for the smores...My oldest DD has a new way of making them...well at least new to me...Reese Peanut Butter Cup, the cooked marshmallow, and of course the graham cracker...mmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm good...Park wasn't as busy as it has been in the past...I'm sure the high gas prices might have put the damper on things for a lot of campers...

This week is full with standard yearly doctor's appointments and Thursday evening I have a school board meeting...Hoping to get my flowers planted tomorrow...supposed to be sunny and around 62...Been working on cards more than anything...plus I have a few tutorials that I can post...so I'm off to upload somethings for your pleasure...Have a great evening and a wonderful week...

Gloomy Sunday Here in Ohio

It's a gloomy Sunday here and as a matter of fact May has been like that since the first...Cloudy, windy, and rainy has taken it's toll on me...I'm ready for hot hot hot...I'm sure that's what I'll get along with the humidity when I vacation in Sarasota soon...

I've managed to make some cards, finish some layouts, organize, crop and update my blog with my scrappy friends from AMR and then some...Much thanks to the girls for their simple directions...

Finally got to see my DGD in her final lacrosse game and also see Taylor at here soccer practice...Sydney is into softball and hopefully will have some games coming up in the near future...

I've also be trying to change, for the better, my style of scrappin...When I first started I was self taught and was totally clueless as to what I was doing...Now with the help of the talented girls at AMR I am definitely improving, but I have a long ways to go...

I've been going to crops with my friend Suzanne...Her late husband and I grew up together and we've been scrappin together for several months now...One day this week she is going to take me to an outlet store that I've never been to, so I'm looking forward to that...She does some awesome work...It's nice when you have someone cropping right next to you when it comes to my not being able to make decisions about stuff...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Here's a LO that I did a couple of weeks ago and today is the appropriate day to post it here on my blog...Thanks for stopping by. The journalling reads as follows:

SOUNDS I MISS
Little did I know while growing up that some of the sounds that I took for granted, would someday be missing from my life…You’re probably wondering, what sounds could impact a person…My mother was an avid seamstress for as long as I can remember…We had a large wood dining room table, or at least I think that’s what it was, as I never really saw the top of it…Material, patterns, pins, and who knows what else…I can still hear the consistent sound of the pinking shears as my mother cut out her patterns…To this day, I still cannot duplicate that sound…My mother wore tongs, the ones that fit between your toes, or as we now call them, flip flops…I can hear the sound of the rubber meeting the heel of her feet…another consistent sound…I could never get lost in a store, for all I had to do was listen for the flip, flop, flip, flop of her tongs…Still don’t know how she managed to walk in those, as just putting them on my feet hurt my toes…My mother was not a morning person…and I learned quickly the answers to my questions by the different grunts and groans…A long mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm meant I’m not quite awake…a short mmmmmmm meant I didn’t hear you…and the list goes on…Now this is one trait I’m quite good at…just ask my kids…Along with the sounds of the grunts and groans goes the sound of the teaspoon hitting the sides of the coffee cup as she stirred in her sugar…Never missing a clink, clink, clink…By now, you’ve probably realized that my mother is an angel in heaven…While I can never duplicate those sounds, I can sit back, close my eyes, and still hear the sound of the pinking shears as they would glide across the table opening and closing, the flips and the flops, and the cling, cling, clang of the spoon…These sounds, along with many more, are sounds that I think about often and will miss hearing forever…

I'm Lovin It

Things have been crazy for me...I've been going to 2 crops a week...then I've been scrap happy at home plus trying to get all those other things done that need to get done...I'm trying to leave some luv on the blogs that I visit, but I'd never get anything done...So what I've come up with is to take one hour, visit blogs, AMR gallery and leave as much luv as I can in that short period of time...I get lost in the reading...I've completed about 4 more LOs and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out...I also managed to pre-cut some of my scraps to use for cards...Someone mentioned that it makes the card making process go a little faster...That will make for less to take to the camper when I decide to go...This way I'll have all these goodies and I can catch up card making...Just way behind in everything...Lots of progress in LOs as I can't stay away from the work area...Probably doing more picking and choosing and looking than anything, but I'm having fun....I'll be joining my friend Suzanne on Friday at the Olive Garden before we head off to crop...She really does some nice scrapping...one of these days I'll have to take some pictures of her beautiful work as she's not into the computer world...She's got a great eye for color and what makes things work...That's what I luv the most about the crops as there's so many others there, and since I'm not that great with deciding on what goes with what, you can always get another opinion or two if need be...Well getting kind of late here so think it's time to count sheep, that's if I can make it past the scrap area without stopping...

It's been a busy week here for me...When I retired I told myself that I was going to play catch up on all those things that I hadn't done for years and organize all that other stuff...Now that I've gotten so involved with scrappin and card making, the best laid plans seem to be going to the way side...An unexpected call to watch my DGKs the other day took me away from some housework...now tell me??? which would you have chosen...no brain er huh...I've also been busy with the Survivor Challenge at www.allmomentsremembered.com We are currently in week 3 and our challenge this week was to make the embellishment(s) that we were using...I've completed that LO and it's now in the gallery at AMR...voting by our peers will take place Monday...I've said it a hundred times that AMR has certainly helped me go outside my comfort zone...Mr. Postman just happened to bring me my ATG today also...I'm way behind the frenzy on this puppy...anxious to give that a whirl...Went to a couple of crops this week and have, once again, several LOs that need last minute touches...I'm hoping to finish those up this weekend, between housework and yard work...more than likely tomorrow as I'm kind of in a down mode right now...Not sure if I can post the Survivor LOs here on my blog, or wait until I'm voted off...Have this feeling that I'm going from one subject to the next, but it's one of my many bad habits...Since I'm in a relax mode, I think I need to catch up on blogging and leaving some luv, so with those thoughts in mind, you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping in...

I managed to make it through round one and voting took place yesterday and this morning for round two...I'm so excited to say that I made it through round two...Thanks to all the people that voted for me...There is some awesome talent at AMR and to have made it through two weeks and I'm so excited...If that wasn't excitement enough a card I lifted from Angie aka craftyscrapr was featured for Monday's Caught My Eye...I just loved Angie's card when I saw it and asked her if I could lift it...What better way to start the week with two great things happening...plus they both happened at www.allmomentsremembered.com...

A Couple of Cards

Made these cards with paper that actually matched and I'm pleased at how they turned out...Pretty generic, but I'm still happy...I got really lucky w/the ribbon that I used as it matches perfectly...

These two cards I made with scraps...Don't think they're bad...but I think it was easier to make the first two as everything matched and these were kinda piece mealed...but I'm sure my DGDs will be excited to get them, no matter what...

Just put the finishing touches on this...My work area is now cleared off so I can work on my Survivor Challenge for www.allmomentsremembered.com... This is a fun challenge where 43 of us on the MB entered and were judged by our peers, with the survivors moving on to week 2 and the castaways still competing by completing the challenges for a RAK amongst themselves...I believe there are 16 of us left...Here's the criteria for this weeks challenge...

Week Two - Island Colors Challenge. I challenge you to post a layout using these 3 colors...Turquoise, Orange, and Tans. You will need I piece of cardstock and 2 patterned papers of your choice. These colors can be any shade of the three colors I mentioned above. Embellish as you please. This layout will need to take you away to a place you can feel tranquil and relaxed.

Definitely have some talented ladies at AMR and I'm honored to be not just a member of the MB, but also one of the survivors....Good luck ladies and see you on the Island...

Just Added the Finishing Touchs

Just finished this LO of the girls birthdays...We have 3 of them in September...Actually, one of them was born and was able to be there for her sister's first birthday....How cool is that...How my daughter managed two little ones in diapers is beyond me...then we were blessed with another girl the follow December...3 in diapers alone...her and my SIL did a wonderful job...I am so lucky...

Finally posted a new LO...This is Kayla having a good time sledding...Despite how cold she was, she finished off the afternoon first with a stop at McDonalds for of all things and ice cream and then home to have some soup...Go figure...Most important thing, she had a good time...

Welllllllll I've been busy scrapping away...I've been to 3 crops in 4 days...one online one at www.allmomentsremembered.com and the other two on Friday night and then again this morning till late afternoon...I'll be going on Friday again...I accomplished alot on the online crop as we had specific challenges..I was able to complete 4 of them and kinda fell apart...my scrap area kept getting smaller and smaller...but I had a blast...Friday evening I was finished a LO except for the journalling...Sat with a nice group of girls and the time went by like right now...probably did more chatting than anything...Today I completed finished a LO, journalling included...need to take a picture of it to post...I also started another LO for my Aunt Uncle in Florida...They are great great Aunt and Uncle to my grandchildren so I'm going to give it to them when I go down to visit in June...I saw a great frame at JoAnns that would be perfect...Ever since I can remember they have sent me a birthday card and more and then when my children were born they sent to them and now they do the same for my grandchildren and are still sending me cards also...What more can I ask for from an Aunt & Uncle...And always on time with their cards...My thoughts are always in the right place, but I'm never on time...Hoping to change that, but making up lots of cards over the summer so I can have them on hand...I usually say that ever year, but this year, I'm going to do it...no matter what...Well it's been a busy day and I have another one tomorrow, so I think I'm off to visit the sandman...Take care and have a great night...

Thought I'd take this time to post the four challenges that I've completed so far...The first one was to do a LO with one picture and use embellishments around it as a frame...Thought this one was ok...Second one was to use bling and stickles and sparkles...I did this one quite fast and I think it shows...The third one was to do a LO with no pictures and just journalling...I had fun doing that one...The fourth was to do a LO with hidden journalling from the heart...I enjoyed that one too...So here there are for everyone to enjoy...Thanks for looking...

Finally a sunny day here in Northeast Ohio...Nice to be able to pop a squat and let those warm sun rays beat down on your face after what seems like a forever winter...Have scads of things to catch up on today as with the warmer weather comes yard work, garage sales, flea markets, and my all time favorite "camping."
